Marian L. (Pearce) Reed, 68

TOWNSEND - Marian L. (Pearce) Reed of Townsend passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 68.

She was born March 17, 1938, in Cecil County, Md., daughter of the late Clarence W. and Anna Mae (Lightcap) Pearce.

Mrs. Reed was a homemaker most of her life, and was an Avon representative for a number of years in the Townsend area. For a brief time, she worked at Leeds Travel Wear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Reed Sr., on Dec. 4, 1997; two brothers, Clarence W. Pearce Jr. and Andrew J. Pearce; two sisters, Mildred Russell and Effie Pearce; and a grandson, Andrew McDowell.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Breitenbach and Doris Young, both of Clayton, and Dawn McDowell of Smyrna; two sons, James C. Reed Jr. of Clayton and Jonathan Reed of Townsend; five sisters, Nellie Mae Dittman of Clayton, Mary Emily Lavender of Townsend, Daisey E. Richards of Camden, Catherine V. Probst of Dover and Margaret Ann Pearce of Georgetown; two brothers, John T. Pearce of Georgia and William Pearce of Clayton; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be private in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
