Marian Burris Sutton

STILL POND, Md. - Marian Burris Sutton died June 22, 2013 at Chester River Manor, Chestertown, Md. Mrs. Sutton was born on April 16, 1927 in Fredericktown, Md., daughter of the late Elwood H. and Mabel Leybold Burris. After graduation she attended Beacom Collage and began her career as a bookkeeper working for Agway, Southern States, Washington College and Georgetown Yacht Basin. She also helped her husband with Cedar Knoll Farm which she and her husband owned. Marian was a member of Shrewsbury Church and their Altar Guild. She was a volunteer for Kent County 4-H for many years. For several years she hosted International Exchange Families. Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Lusby Sutton in 2012; two sons, James L. Sutton, Jr. and Dudley E. Sutton; a granddaughter, Megan Sutton; and a brother, James E. Burris. She is survived by two children, John "Woody" Sutton (Ann Marie) of Parkville, Md., and M. Lynn Sutton (Leon Walbert) of Still Pond, Md.; a brother, John D. Burris (Carol) of Nokomis, Fla.; two granddaughters, Jennifer S. Cole (Joe) and Brooke L. Bennett (Mark Shaw, Jr.); and two great-granddaughters, Delaney and Juliana Cole. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Shrewsbury Parish Church, Kennedyville, MD. Burial in adjoining cemetery. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
