Marian B. Serman, 80

DOVER - Marian B. Serman of Dover passed on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80.

Marian was born March 31, 1927, in Hazletteville, daughter of the late Alice Seaman Hobbs and Titus Isaac Hobbs.

She was happily married for 46 years to the late Roland E. Serman, who passed May 5, 2007.

Loving her family and raising her children was her profession, which evolved into an in-home day-care.

Not only her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her "Mom-Mom," but all of her day-care children did the same and thought of her as their "Mom-Mom."

Marian had the talent of giving equal amounts of love and discipline.

Her greatest love was her family, and enjoying overnight visits with her grandchildren, family reunions and the Christmas holidays.

Marian spent many hours decorating her home, planting flowers, bird watching and crocheting.

She shared her home with Lady, her special pup.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Glen Serman; three sisters, Louise Hobbs Carden, Sally Eliza Hobbs and Florence Hobbs; and one brother, Titus Isaac Hobbs Jr.

She is survived by her loving children, five daughters and their husbands, Judi and John Haughton of Dover, Annette and Stan Smith of Dover, Mary Lou and Chuck Krupka of Hartly, Cynthia and Paul Tacka of Catonsville, Md., and Jackie Taylor of South Hill, Va.; two sons and their wives, Richard and Ana Cote' of Felton, and Michael and Karen Cote' of Dover; two sisters, Margaret Harrall of Dover and Bertha Davis of Delmar; two brothers, Sam Hobbs of Salisbury, Md., and Stan Hobbs of Dover; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or Kent County American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Dover, DE 19901.
