IDDLETOWN — A 29-year-old Elkton man was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony following investigation into a shots fired investigation Tuesday, Middletown Police said.

According to authorities, at approximately 7 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Catherine Street in reference to a shots fired complaint with multiple subjects running from the area, police said.

Officers arrived on scene and located several shell casings and struck vehicles, police said.

Authorities said that while on scene, officers learned that Lawrence Ray, of Elkton, was being dropped off at the Middletown Emergency Hospital with non-life threating injuries from gunshot wounds.

Through the investigation, police said, officers learned Mr. Ray was involved in an altercation prior to the shooting and he fired a handgun that struck vehicles and occupied residences in the area.

Mr. Ray was arrested and also charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and first-degree reckless endangering (two counts). He was arraigned through the Justice of Peace Court and issued a $70,000 cash bond.
