KENNEDYVILLE, Md. - Mabel A. Hill of Kennedyville died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, in Corsica Hills Nursing Home, Centreville. She was 106.

Mrs. Hill was born Feb. 8, 1901, in Black Station, Kennedyville, daughter of the late Cornelius and Estelle (Stradley) Jarvis.

After her marriage in 1921, she moved to the Hill family farm, near Kennedyville, and in 1954 moved to town.

At the age of 61, Mrs. Hill went to work at Washington College, retiring after 21 years of service.

She was a member of Shrewsbury Parish Church, Kennedyville.

Mrs. Hill was one of the first women in Kent County to register to vote, and voted in every election since 1924.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, D. Raymond Hill, in 1988; two sons, Robert Hill II and Daniel J. Hill; an infant daughter; a brother, Melvin Jarvis; three sisters, Estella Shaw, Elizabeth Coleman and Florence Jarvis; and a great-granddaughter, Tyler Stubbs.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Rose Mary Hill of California; eight grandchildren, Daniel J. Hill Jr., Geri Thompson, Judi Beskid, Kenneth Hill, Kathleen Arriola, Barbara Norris, Robert Hill and James Hill; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Funeral services will follow at 2 in Shrewsbury Parish Church, Kennedyville. Burial will be in Still Pond Cemetery.
