DAMES QUARTER, Md. - Louis Rietzow Jr. of Dames Quarter, Md., died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in his home. He was 86.
Mr. Rietzow was born on Sept. 27, 1920, in Wisconsin, son of the late Louis Sr. and Mollie Hudson Reitzow.
He graduated from Goldey-Beacom Business College with a business degree.
Mr. Reitzow spent his childhood on the Eastern Shore. He lived in Queen Anne"s County where he was a broiler grower and later moved to Seaford to continue to grow chickens. He also worked at Glenn L. Martin in Baltimore and was a serviceman and growout supervisor for Bayshore Food.
Mr. Rietzow was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a sergeant stationed with the 15th Army Air fFrce in Italy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Reitzow.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee Rietzow of Dames Quarter; children, Donna Lee Hayes and Louis of Ridgeley, Priscilla Rice and Charlie of Cordova, Robin and Mark Ball of Trappe, David Wheatley and Nancy of Carthage, N.C., Dennis Doyle and Lisa of Seaford, Del. and Missie Lathbury and Steve of Georgetown, Del.; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Werner of California; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Paul"s United Methodist Church, Wenona where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Lloyd Foard and the Rev. Lindy Adams will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bozman Family Cemetery in Dames Quarter.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul"s U.M. Church, c/o Joyce White, 9338 Deal Island Road, Wenona, MD 21821; or a fire department of choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne.
