Loran Leroy Smith, 90
GUMBORO - Loran Leroy Smith of Gumboro died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, Md. He was 90.
He was born in Gumboro, son of the late, Clarence and Blanche (Cordrey) Smith.
Mr. Smith was a retired foreman for C.C. Oliphant and Son, Laurel and a member of Parkway Church of God, Salisbury.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Smith; and two brothers, Waldon Smith and William Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esta M. (Wharton) Smith; a daughter, Dolores A. Taylor; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald and Gail Smith and N. Dean and Susan Smith; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Smith; a nephew who was like a son, and his wife, Gene and Geraldine Wharton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Rebekah LeGates, Michelle and Paul Miller, Todd and Marie Smith, Erik and Mendi Smith and Sarah and Aaron Hunsinger; 13 great-grandchildren, T. Scott Dewey, Hannah Washburn and husband Travis, Kathryn Dewey, Kristina Miller, Kasandra LeGates, Joshua LeGates, Stephanie LeGates, Carol Ann Smith, Luke Smith, Sommer Smith, Foster Smith, Brooke Hunsinger and Aubrey Hunsinger; a great-great-grandchild, Madyson Washburn; a brother, Richard Smith; three sisters, Isabel Meeker, Betty Jean and husband Marvel Tice and Ruth Ann and husband Maurice Tingle.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Parkway Church of God, U.S. 50 and 600 Edison St., Salisbury, Md., where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Line Methodist Church Cemetery, Whitesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Loran"s name to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
