Lois Inter, 92
Lois passed away on June 1, 2024 at the age of 92 following the gift of a long and full life. Lois was one of eighteen children born to Emery and Genevieve Jordan in Warren, Pennsylvania and the middle child of the fifteen who survived to adulthood. Lois spent her childhood in Lottsville, Pennsylvania and graduated from Youngsville High School in Pennsylvania. Lois attended Slippery Rock College, and like many women of her generation, left college before graduation to marry. Lois married Thomas William Inter on August 18, 1951. Following Tom's graduation from Penn State University, Tom entered the Army. Lois and Tom lived at Fort Benning, (now Fort Moore) Georgia and Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington. Following Tom's service in the Army, they settled in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania where Tom began his career in education. Lois was busy at home with young daughters, Janet and Karen. The family moved to Unionville, Pennsylvania where Beth and Nancy were born. An opportunity for Tom, led the family to settle in Dover, Delaware in 1965. While in Dover, Carol was born and Lois had her hands full with a busy family of five girls. Lois settled into her home in the Towne Point neighborhood where she remained for the rest of her life.
Lois was active in her community particularly with her children's activities. When her children were young, Lois was a full time homemaker. As her children grew older, Lois became a Family Child Care Provider; she was lovingly called "Ma" by her 'children'. She was an avid reader her entire life. Lois valued education, ensuring each of her daughters completed college. She was always interested in current events and enjoyed being engaged in conversations about world events and books. Gardening was important to Lois. She took great pride in ensuring her yard was attractive. Until her later years, no one else was allowed to trim her shrubbery. Although Lois left her hometown in her early twenties, she was very connected to her siblings. She loved to reminisce late into the night with her sisters.
