Lois B. Lantz

DOVER - Lois B. Lantz, age 79, of Westminster Village in Dover, formerly of Harbeson, and Media, Pa., passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Kent General Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover. Lois was born in Chester, Pa., on Nov. 10, 1932, daughter of the late Daniel Edwin and Wilhelmina Frederika (Van Waardt) Brown. Lois was an elementary school librarian in Media, Pa. She was an artist all her life and enjoyed painting and selling her artwork after retirement and taught watercolor at Del-Tech Community College in Georgetown, and the Cheer Center at Longneck. Lois was actively involved with the community serving as a two time Past President of the Sussex Bird Club, a member of the Cape Artists, former member of the Millsboro Art League, the Delmarvelous Quilters, was a member of the Red Hat Society, and a member of the Long Neck United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lantz also volunteered for the Tri-State Bird Rescue and at the Delaware Seashore State Park during the sea turtle nesting season. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Lantz in 2008. She is survived by a son, Bruce Lantz and his wife Joanne of Middletown; two daughters, Dawn Lantz of Lexington, Ky., and Kim Lantz Yoder and her husband Elwood of Harrisburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Chelsea, Devon, Maria, Daniel, Samuel, Arie, Bridget, and Ally; and a sister, Suzette Brown Brumbaugh and her husband Blair of York, Pa. A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Long Neck United Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, where friends and family may call after 9 a.m. A reception will immediately follow in the church social hall. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Lois' name to the Sussex Bird Club, c/o Louise Archdeacon, 18271 Locust Lane, Lewes, DE 19958.
