Linda Evelyn Dobies, 59

SMYRNA - Linda Evelyn Dobies of Smyrna died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 59.

Mrs. Dobies was born July 1, 1948, in Wilmington, to the late George P. Barkovic and Evelyn M. Regenauer Barkovic.

Mrs. Dobies was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking.

Mrs. Dobies gave generously to many charities including the American Cancer Society and National Diabetes Association.

Mrs. Dobies was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Society at St. Elizabeth's in Wilmington.

She attended Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover.

Mrs. Dobies was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Thomas Anthony Dobies Sr. in 2002.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas A. Dobies Jr. of New Castle, Daniel Dobies of Smyrna; her daughters, Alicia and Eva Dobies, both of Smyrna; her brothers, William J. Barkovic of Clifton, Va. and Daniel J. Barkovic of Newark; three grandchildren, Emerald Dawn Graham, Matthew Wesley Graham Jr. and Sophia Marie Serwinski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover.

Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the National Diabetes Association, Attn: Donations, 1660 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
