LAUREL - Lester Hailey of Laurel departed this life Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford, after a brief illness. She was 83.
Born May 16, 1923, in Atlanta, Va., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Annie Rue.
Ms. Hailey was a homemaker who loved and cared for her children and grandchildren, and devoted her life to her family.
Her early Christian teaching was under Apostle Ivy Hopkins at the Pilgrim Ministry in Georgetown. She then joined, and was a faithful member until her death, Faith and Healing Ministries in Laurel under Prophetess Pastor Diane Elzey.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory three daughters, Virginia Doldren of Laurel, Mildred Rogers of Seaford, and Debra Jones of Toms River, N.J.; two sons-in-law, Angelo Rogers of Seaford and Ronald Jones of Toms River; a daughter-in-law, Josephine Phillips; two brothers, Calvin Logan and Randolph Logan, both of Millsboro; two sisters, Cora Johnson of Atlanta, Va., and Hallie Tingle of Seaford; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Logan and Edna Logan; a special grandson, Charles Marshall; special granddaughters, Ruby Marshall and Dee Dee Marshall; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Christ Evangelical Church, Camp Road, Laurel, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Second St. John's Baptist Church Cemetery, Millsboro.
Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford.
