PORTSVILLE - Leslie A. Leach of Portsville passed away quietly at his home on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008. He was 81.
Les served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having been a letter carrier in rural Maryland for 28 years.
Les was an avid square dancer for over 35 years, as well as a caller. He was a longtime member of Happy Squares, Single Steppers and Dorchester Swingers and performed square dance exhibitions for many local senior centers and nursing homes.
He was a member of Portsville United Methodist Church.
Les loved being with family and friends, helping others, strumming the guitar, being outdoors and, most of all, fishing.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Les is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine; his daughters, Vickie Leach of Portsville and Sue Sura of Bel Air, Md.; one brother; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Jan. 19 in Portsville United Methodist Church, 31050 Dogwood Lane.
The family suggests contributions in Les's memory to Compassionate Care Hospice, 31038 Country Garden Blvd., Suite D2, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
