Dover - Leo Hubert Steady entered into eternal life, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Leo was born in North Hero, Vt. to the late, George and Josephine (Jarvis) Steady. Leo served proudly in the United States Air Force for 27 years, during both the Vietnam & Korean wars, before retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 3232, in Camden, the Thomas J. Duffy Post # 1466, in Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2, Dover.
After completing his tour of duty with the military, he worked at Dover Rent All for over 20 years. In his free time, Leo enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, building and flying remote control airplanes, building model ships, playing golf, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Hazel Stacy, Constance Stacy, George Steady, Eugene Steady, Bernard Steady, Kenneth Steady, and Joan Richards; and his late wife, Marlene (Bartley) Steady (1994).
Leo is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dana (Mungo) Steady; his children, Deborah Lynne Birely and husband, Samuel, of Stockbridge, Ga., Michael L. Steady and wife, Lorna, of San Francisco, Calif., George Emmett Steady, and wife, Tina, of Dover, Carol Ann Valley and husband, Leonard, Jr., of Lexington Park, Md.; a step-daughter, Brigitte Lacombe, of Bonner Springs, Kan.; his grandchildren, Nicole Rossano, Caitlin Rossano, Jessica Moran, Brandi M. Steady, Leonard Valley, III, and wife, Jennifer, Sheila Valley, and Stacie Valley; eight great-grandchildren; his in-laws, Dan and Betty Mungo, of Pageland, S.C.; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.
Viewing is from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2018, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2018, in the Church of the Holy Cross, 631 South State St., Dover.
Entombment will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, with Full Military Honors, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 630 Churchmans Road # 202, Newark, DE 19702.
