Lena Catherine Murphy, 88

MAGNOLIA - Lena Catherine Murphy of Magnolia, and formerly of Pocomoke City, Md., died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Crozer Chester Medical Center in Chester, Pa.

Born Dec. 10, 1918, in Snow Hill, Md., she was the last surviving of 10 children, of the late Edward and Carrie Twigg Coffin.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of Goodwill Baptist Church in Pocomoke City and a past member of the Pocomoke Soroptimist Club for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Murphy, Aug. 5, 1991.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth South Treftz and her husband, Kirk of Magnolia; two sons, Clifton Sparrow and his wife, Karen of Fruitland, and Glenn Sparrow and his wife, Penny of Hampton, Va.; six grandchildren, Tammy South, Toni South, Brenda Sparrow, Kevin Sparrow, Clifton Sparrow and Sabrina Sparrow; five great-grandchildren, Chance Thompson, Michael South, Lauren South, Aubrey South and Jasmine Taylor.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday in the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, where friends may call one hour prior to service and from 6-8 p.m., Saturday. The Rev. Keith Horner will officiate.

Interment will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery, Old Snow Hill Road, Pocomoke City, Md.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Delaware Hospice, Georgetown Professional Park, 600 DuPont Highway, Suite 107, Georgetown, DE 19947; or The Evergreen Center, 13 S.W. Front Street, Milford, DE 19963.
