Lawrence Alan Rose

Dover - Lawrence Alan Rose passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry served proudly in the United States Air Force for over 25 years, then continued working in Civil Service on the Dover Air Force Base for 11 years, before concluding his career as the Director of Manpower at the Pentagon; where he was working during the 9-11 Attack.
He was a very active man who never sat still. Larry liked doing research on the computer; enjoyed traveling with his family, especially going to Daytonna, Fla.; going to amusement parks and riding roller coasters; flying airplanes and going to airshows, and to the movies; and going out to eat. He was the President of the Dover High School Football Boosters during the 1980's; and also served as President of the Midnight Sundowners.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Rose and Mary Joseph Rose; his foster parents, Alfreda L. Turner Littleton and Homer K. Turner; his sister, Jane Wertz; and foster sister, Brenda L. Irwin Crislip.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Fox) Rose; two children, Robert A. Rose, of Delmar and Ronald D. Rose and wife, Elizabeth, of Collegeville, Pa.; three sisters, Marcia Benezet, of Philadelphia, Pa., Hazel Hayes, of Fresno, Calif. and Barbara A. Miller, of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Daniel Joseph and Stephen Rose, both of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Tereasa C. Rose and Keith M. Rose; a great-granddaughter, Kyleen T. Harrison; three god-children, Kathleen Herrmann, of Maryland, Deborah Jacobs, of St. Georges and Jeffery Benezet of Pennsylvania; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will take place at 12 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may gather one hour before. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
