MILTON - Laurene J. Bergez, 89, of Milton, died on Nov. 22, 2010, at the Hospice Center in Milford. She was 89. Laurene was the daughter of the late Fred and Beatrice Hansen. She was born in Fountain, Michigan on Aug. 11, 1921. She moved with her husband and children to Wilmington, in 1958. After they retired she and Al moved to Sussex County. Laurene was a homemaker, a member of Eagles Nest Church in Milton. She loved to bake, sew, and read before she lost her sight. She was a lay witness missionary for 27 years. She enjoyed square dancing. She was a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir at the Peniel U.M. Church at Newport. Along with her husband of 69 years, Albert, she is survived by her son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Carmella Bergez of Newark; daughter, Deanne New of Dover; five grandchildren, David, Christopher (Andrea) and Robert (Kim) New, Jo Ann (Dustin) Pedrick, Robert (Mary) Bergez; seven great-grandchildren, David New, Jr, Jordan New, Taylor New, Megan New, Lucas Pedrick, Matthew Pedrick, Chase Bergez, a sister, B. Kay Rader of Branch, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Eagles Nest Fellowship Church, 26633 Zion Church Rd., Milton, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be sent to Eagles Nest Fellowship Church, 26633 Zion Church Rd., Milton, DE 19968.
