Larry Mims Larry 'Gat' Mims, 53
BEAR - Larry "Gat" Mims of Bear, formerly of Clanton, Ala., died peacefully, Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, in his home after bravely battling cancer. He was 53.
Mr. Mims was born Oct. 10, 1953, in Clanton.
He worked as a lumberjack from a young age, loving the outdoors and a good hard, hon-est day's work with his partner and son-in-law Mike Payes.
Mr. Mims was happiest when spending time with his family and planting his garden.
He is survived by his children, Tamara Mims and Ashley Mims of Pascagoula, Miss., Susan Mims of Bear, Molly Payes of Cheswold and Rachel Mims of Clanton; Floyce Durham and Howard Ballard of Clanton; his brothers, Charles Mims of Woodstock, Ga., Howard Ballard of Clanton, Renee Mims and Douglas Mims, both of Douglasville, Ga.; four granddaughters, Karli, Mollie, Rileigh, and Martey; and his for-mer wife, friend and caregiver in his recent illness, Mary Mims.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier.
