DOVER - CMSgt. Larry Dennis Palmer Sr., Ret., of Dover, died Monday Jan. 26, 2009, in Kent General Hospital. He was 74. Mr. Palmer was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Port Huron, Mich., to the late Alfred Palmer and Mary McAller Palmer. He retired as CMSgt. from the United States Air Force after serving nine overseas tours of Duty including Vietnam. After the service he was Civil Service at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. He was a member of the Mason Lodge 7 in Dover. The "Chief" enjoyed socializing with friends and family, softball, baseball, football, bowling, and regularly attended church services at the DAFB chapel. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Fleming of Great Falls, Mont.; and his brother, Ed Palmer of Port Huron, Mich. Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor Hall Palmer of Dover; two sons, Larry D. Palmer Jr. and his wife Lori of Camden, Louis D. Palmer of Dover; three daughters, Lisa D. Palmer of Alexandria, Va., Louann D. Fleming and her husband Chuck of Great Falls, Mont., and Linda D. Christopher and her husband Adam of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Gary Palmer of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Grant "Bill" Palmer of Port Huron, Mich.; four grandchildren, Leah D. and Lana D. Palmer, Sara Christopher and Jeremy Garlick. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Dover Air Force Base Chapel 2. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
