Nichols, Sr. DOVER - Lacy Edward Nichols, Sr., passed away Tuesday Mar. 24, 2015 at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford. He was 95. Mr. Nichols was born Feb. 5, 1920 in Greensboro, Md., to the late Oscar A. and May L. Ash Nichols. He graduated from Greensboro High School, and Goldey Beacom College. In 1938 he operated a grocery store in Greensboro. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in W.W.II. Following the war, he took over the grocery again. In the early '50s he moved to Texas and served as a Deputy Fire Marshall in Amarillo. Lacy and his wife moved back to Delaware and he went to International Platex as an industrial engineer. From 1966-1973 he was plant manager at ILC Industries, then from 1978-1986 he was the campus manager at Wesley College. Following that he was self-employed as a wood worker. Mr. Nichols is survived by his daughter Pat Nichols and husband Allan Shepard of Magnolia; son, Mike Nichols and his wife Pamela of Felton; 4 grandchildren, Peter E. Nichols, Penny Bauer, Steven Shepard, and Jacob Nichols; and great-grandsons, Peter and Forrest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 2009; and son, Lacy, Jr., in 2012. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday March 28, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
