Kevin Scott Smith, 51 MAGNOLIA - Kevin Scott Smith, of Magnolia, died Tuesday evening, March 16, 2010, in Kent General Hospital. He was 51. He was born April 13, 1958, in St. Joseph, Mich., to Barbara Swanson Smith and David Smith. Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy for 4 years. He worked for 24 years at I.L.C. as a hard goods assembler. He was a member of the American Legion in Harrington. Mr. Smith enjoyed golf, music, planting flowers, his work, reading, playing cards with his in-laws, but especially spending time with his family. He had a special night set aside for playing backgammon. He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend, and he will greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death his daughter, Andrea Smith, Jan. 11, 2002. Mr. Smith is survived by his parents of Benton Harbor, Mich.; his wife of 7 years, Tamblya "Tammy" Smith of Magnolia; daughter, Danielle Smith at home; brother, Kirt Smith and his wife Karen of WaterVliet, Mich.; nieces and nephews, Tara, Josh, Tony, Erika, Eric, Abby, Bobby, Ashley, and Brandon. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10). Friends may call two hours prior. Interment will be private. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
