Jure 'George' Petras, 80

CLAYTON - Jure "George" Petras, died peacefully in his home in Clayton, on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008. He was 80. Jure was born in Veljatyn, Ukraine on Feb. 15, 1928, the youngest of three brothers. Mr. Petras immigrated to America in 1956. Jure retired as a maintenance technician from Letica Corp in Middletown. In his retirement he enjoyed following local and professional sports teams, telling stories about the "old country", and spending time in the outdoors hunting, fishing and gardening. His favorite pastime, which he excelled at, was crabbing for Maryland's Blue Crab. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Petras and Maria Divynecj. He is survived by his four children, George Petras, of Slidell, La., Suzanna Petras, of Houston, Kathy Nedelka, of Clayton, and Michael Petras of Yulee, Fla. He is also survived by Regina Petras and sister-in-law Marta Bielicki; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 11:00 a.m. Letters of condolences may be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
