Joyce Figgs Edwards

PRESTON, Md. - Joyce Figgs Edwards, of Preston, Md., (formerly of Greensboro) passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Caroline Nursing and Rehab Center in Denton. She was born on Aug. 6, 1922 in Pittsville to the late William and Frances Figgs. Joyce attended Beacom School of Business and became a Mortgage Officer for Wilmington Savings of Dover. She worked as a Legal Secretary and retired from the law office of Benjamin N. Brown of Wilmington after 25 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer W. Edwards; siblings, Evelyn Fleetwood, Isabel Gordy and Otis Figgs. She is survived by her son, Donald O. Edwards and wife Diane of Jensen Beach, Fla.; sister, Rosalie Bryson; five grandchildren, Ryan, Jason and Joe Edwards, Megan and Ryan Starcevic and six great grandchildren, Leif, Elijah, Adelle and Ariell Edwards; Hailey Starcevic and Joey Schminkey. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 17th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m .in the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro. Visitation will be held Saturday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private in the Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery.
