SMYRNA - Joseph R. Gonzon, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017.
He was born on Nov. 6, 1946 in Wilmington the son of the late Frank and Margaret Gonzon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Zeke Gonzon, Anthony Gonzon, Sister Mary Frances Carmel, and Josephine Knight.
He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Susan Gonzon; his children, Alicia Weddle and her husband Jeremey of Milford, Anna Linz and her husband Perry of Jefferson, Ga., and Joe Gonzon, II and his wife Crystal of Clayton; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Emma, Ava, Noah, Joey, Brayden, and Braxtyn; his brother, Dominic Gonzon and his wife Donna of Middletown; and many extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna.
A private graveside service will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Wilmington.
