NEW CASTLE - Joseph R. Davis, of New Castle, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at home. He was 80. Joseph was born in Milford, the son of the late Wilbur D. and Mary (Derrickson) Davis. He was a lab technician at DuPont retiring in 1991. He was a member of the St. Peters Catholic Church. He enjoyed boating and NASCAR Racing. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Moore Davis; three daughters, Mary Ann Crosley and her husband Neal, Jean Smiley and her husband George, and Brenda Kenney and her husband Hugh; five grandchildren, Erica Gonce, Erin Marando and her husband Mike, Shannon Smallwood, Lisa Plumley and Christopher Plumley; four great-grandchildren, Tristen Smallwood, Grace Marando, Evan Marando and Quinten Ruth; one brother, William Davis; two sisters, Louise Workman and Muriel Baker and his dog, Coco. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call Sunday night from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
