Joseph G. Hughes

DOVER - Joseph G. Hughes passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at home.
Mr. Hughes was born May 27, 1942 in Trenton, N.J. to the late Joseph Hughes and Rose Aronowite Hughes. He received his BA from Trenton State University. Mr. Hughes spent most of his life in the Morrisville and Yardley, Pa. area, and was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Morrisville.
He served in the Army National Guard for seven years. Mr. Hughes worked in Budget Management at the Philadelphia Inquirer. He was a member of the First State Corvette Club and attended Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover. Mr. Hughes was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and adored his wife.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Kirk.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carman "Pat" Montefusco Hughes of Dover; children, Kevin Hughes of Ashville, N.C., Kristy Rumphrey of Fredrick, Md., Peter Montefusco of Dover, Ron Montefusco of Dothan, Ala. and Patty Knightbridge (Philip) of Pismo Beach, Calif.; grandsons, Dylan and Keegan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, #205, New Castle, DE 19720.
