SMYRNA - Joseph C. Stubbs, of Smyrna, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 82.
Mr. Stubbs was born Feb. 5, 1925, in Goldsboro, Md., son of the late Clayton A. and Margaret (Cannon) Stubbs.
He worked for General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 1979.
Mr. Stubbs was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in England, France and Germany.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Stubbs; and four sisters, Sally Boyd, Cora Hummel, Ann M. Smith and Dorothy Philbin.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris M. Stubbs; a brother, Thomas Stubbs and his wife, Pat, of Newbury, Mass.; a daughter, Gill Brown and her husband, Bill, of Smyrna; three grandchildren, Tara, Scott, and Bradley; 10 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Tony Rowland of Maryland; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stubbs of Milford; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends, including the loving and caring staff at the Silver Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Dover.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
