MILFORD - Jonathan Herman Hurd, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Milford Center. He was born in Milford to the late Major Hurd, Jr. and Anna Mae (Ford) Hurd.
He loved farming and worked for Charles West Farms. He was a member of the Fox Hunter's Club and was an avid hunter and trapper.
He especially loved growing flowers. He loved to watch western shows and loved his dogs.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded by a son at birth, Thomas Michael Hurd; and siblings, Margaret Hutson, Major (Bud) Hurd, Dorothy Fry, Ann Hobbs, and Wayne Hurd.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia (Beideman) Hurd; children, Donald (Madelyn) Beideman, Jonathan (Cathy) Hurd, Jr. and Cathy (Rick) Rios; grandchildren, Donnie, Maribeth, Jonathan, Jeremy, Logan and Carson; several great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces; extended family, Rios family that treated him like he was one of their own; and his beloved dog, Buddy.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 12 noon. Masks required. Burial will be held at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Family requests casual attire to be worn.
