John Harold Pepper

TOWNSEND - John Harold "Jack" Pepper, of Townsend, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, with family and friends at his side. Jack was born Nov. 9, 1958, at Kent General Hospital in Dover to Naomi Jean and Harold Davis Pepper. He was the youngest of four siblings, and their only son. Jack grew up in Dover, and graduated from Dover High School in 1976. After a year of general studies at Delaware State College, he attended Louisiana Tech University where he earned his degree in Art and Architecture in 1982. He spent his career in Delaware, working for several firms including two that he co-owned, Pepper Reinholz Architects, INC and Delaware Architects, LLC. He also held the position of State Architect for Delaware. Jack had two children, Laura Elizabeth, and Clay John Harold. In 2002 he married Connie Biddle Pepper, he was a loving husband and stepfather to her daughters, Jackie and Lauren. Jack was a member of the AIA and Dover Colonial Rotary, where he received the Paul Harris award. Jack, a devoted father and husband, loved spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan, who supported all Philadelphia sports teams as well as the Boston Red Sox. Jack will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love of good music, especially the blues, and his love for Cajun cuisine and cooking. Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Laura and Clay, and his stepchildren, Jackie and Lauren Sullivan. He is also survived by his sisters, Yvonne Messina and her husband, Phillip, Brenda Kremmes and her husband, Arnet, Deborah Anderson and her husband, Martin along with many nieces and nephews and grand nephews. Friends may visit with Jack's family from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 20 at Connection Community Church, 10 West Green Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, Jack requested that donations be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. Arrangements by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
