John F. Pentony, 92
OCEAN VIEW - John F. Pentony, of Ocean View, formerly of Lebanon, Pa., passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008, at the Berlin (Md.) Nursing Home. He was 92.
He was born in Tunnelton, W.Va., son of the late William and Irma (Ashby) Pentony.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a radio operator on Tinian Island.
He began his career working at his father's grocery store, where he retired as an assistant manager for the A&P store in Lebanon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Pentony in April 2008.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Ida (Rossi) Allwein Pentony, whom he married June 13, 1966.
John will be dearly missed by his daughter, Linda Pentony of Cleveland; stepchildren, Margaret "Peg" Graybill and her husband Ronald "Ron" of Ocean Pines, Md., Rose Sangrey and husband Robert "Bob" of Akron, Pa., Nancy Nebiker and husband Brian of Ocean View, Frank Allwein of Andover, Ohio, and Michael Allwein and wife Pat of Mount Gretna, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Gen of Kingwood, W.Va.; a sister, Margaret "Sally" Wilson and husband Nathan of Paoli, Pa.; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service and burial will be private.
