John Eugene Pelphrey

John Eugene Pelphrey, 68 GREENSBORO, Md. - John Eugene Pelphrey, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in the Memorial Hospital of Easton. He was 68. He was born Feb. 23, 1940, in Johnson County, Ky., to the late Sherman and Emma Blanton Pelphrey. Mr. Pelphrey was a graduate of Oceana High School in Copperstown, W.Va. He moved to the area 26 years ago from Anne Arundel County. He worked for Caroline County roads as an inspector since 1993. Mr. Pelphrey was a member of Greensboro Pentecostal Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Dorothea Grace Plank Pelphrey on March 12, 2008. He is survived by two stepsons, Jimmie Lee Harris of Denton and Don Harris of the Czech Republic; two stepdaughters, Crystal Tarasiuk of Spain and Sandra Snyder of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Robert Pelphrey of Ohio, James Pelphrey of Florida, and Earl Pelphrey of West Virginia; a sister, Opal Williams of Ohio; close friends, Judy and Gary Hartman of New York; caregiver, Carole Crump of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Greensboro Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Greensboro Pentecostal Church of God, 13149 Greensboro Road, Greensboro, MD 21639.
