DOVER - Joan W. Brown passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Brown was born March 28, 1937 in Media, Pennsylvania. She worked as an LPN at many nursing homes in Delaware, most recently Green Valley Pavilion. Mrs. Brown was also a foster grandparent with Capitol School District and volunteered with Special Olympics. She was also very involved with her church, Capital Baptist Church, faithfully attending services, widow groups, and bible study. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elias E. Brown in 1990 and grandson, Luke A. Brown in 1995. She is survived by her three children, Lorelei "Dawn" Bather of Viola, Dennis E. Brown and his wife, Kum of Owasso, Okla. and Harry E. Brown and his wife, Treasa of Dover; grandchildren, Shannon Irrgang and his wife, Sue Ellen, Lindsay Irrgang, Dennis E. and Lydia Brown, Brittany Cox and her husband, Ronald, and Trevor Bather. She also has four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday Feb. 4, 2014 at the Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Avenue, Dover. Friends may call on hour prior. Interment will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Marcus Hook, PA. Family welcomes flowers or contributions be made to Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Avenue, Dover, DE 19904.
