DOVER - Joan Kathryn Edwards passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at The Center at Eden Hill, Dover after complications from a traumatic fall that occurred in May.
Mrs. Edwards was born November 27, 1935 in Showell, Maryland to the late James B. Collins and Delphine M. Hudson Collins.
She served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960 as an Airman 1st Class. She worked in the cafeterias of Caesar Rodney School District for over 20 years. And later worked for Dodd Dental Labs. Mrs. Edwards enjoyed crocheting, traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a 50-year member of Victory Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Star and served as an adult advisor on both the Job's Daughters Bethel and Kent Chapter DeMolay youth organizations at Dover's Masonic Lodge.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, of 8 years Robert A. Bragoz in 1967; and her 2nd husband Eugene L. Edwards in 2014; as well as her 8 siblings.
She is survived by her children, Joan E. Bragoz Siler and her husband Tom of Dover, and Jacqlyn R. Bragoz Estes and her husband Herbert of Synder, OK; step-daughters, Janet Harker and husband David of Rail Road Flats, CA, Jeanie Burr of Junction City, OR; grandchildren, Justin Messick, Kyle Siler, Alison Saul and her husband Branden and Cerrah Hembroff; and great grandchildren, Kelsey Messick and Conner Higgs.
Memorial services will be held 12 PM, Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro at 2 PM with Military Honors.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan's honor, to Victory Chapter #15 OES - 1478 Wyoming Mill Rd., Dover DE 19904, to be used towards the Chapter's charities.
