Joan Davis Beckman

DOVER - Joan Davis Beckman of Dover died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at Kent General Hospital. She was 80. Joan was born February 28, 1933 in Hartly, and was the daughter of Maxwell and Myrtle Hutchins Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Maxwell, Jr. She married in 1959 and moved from Delaware to accompany her husband on his military tours of duty, returning to Delaware in 1999, upon retiring from Angelo State University in Texas. Between 1951 and 1999 she enjoyed secretarial duties with the State of Delaware, Federal Aviation Agency, Veterans Administration Regional Office, Office of Special Investigations on Misawa AB, Japan, and the State of Texas (Angelo State University), and Kraft Foods. Joan enjoyed travelling, reading and arts and crafts. Mrs. Beckman is survived by two brothers, Allen Davis and his wife Frances of Hartly, and Jason Davis and his wife Carla of Frederica; as well as three nephews, Wade, Jeff, and Brian Davis.
