DOVER - Retired Lt. Col Joan D. Ford of Dover passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at Milford Hospital. Joan was born Jan. 9, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Isaac Ford and Veronica Kegolis Ford. She graduated from Wilkes-Barre Township High School and Abington School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Joan was the youngest of 10 children. She served our country in the United States Air Force as a nurse practitioner. Joan was stationed in England, Germany, Japan and the United States. She touched many lives during her time in the Air Force. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her three brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by her brother, William "Rocky" Ford; and many nieces and nephews. Joan leaves behind many friends and family with wonderful memories and love. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
