TOWNSEND - Jimmie E. Estep began his eternal life on Dec. 19th. He enjoyed 67 years among family and friends. Jim was born in Kingsport, Tenn., to his proud parents Edmond Paul and Mamie Estep. He grew up in New Castle with his siblings, Billy, Marylou, Douglas, and Thomas. He attended William Penn High School. Jim went on to serve in the US Army where he excelled as an expert marksman. After leaving the Army, he became a barber and worked from his shop on New Castle Ave. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Barbara Moore. They were married in January 1965 and cherished their vows until he took his last breath. He became a father with the birth of his son, Jimmie E. Estep, Jr., followed by the birth of his daughter, Dawne D. Estep. He was a devoted father and built his family a home outside Townsend. He became a grandfather with the birth of Shannon N. Hartnett, who wrapped him around her little finger. His son married Jessica Hubert whom Jim loved dearly. His and Barb's siblings married and blessed him with many nieces and nephews. He joined the Teamsters and was employed as a truck driver with several companies before retiring from Brandywine Construction Co. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could build or repair almost anything. He willingly used those skills to help anyone in need. He was passionate and competitive about any activity he pursued including softball, hunting, fishing, bowling, pinochle and golf. He was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 351 and helped many young men to grow into productive members of society. Jim had an outgoing personality and most people who met him never forgot him. He will be missed by his family and his many friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at 7 p.m., in Townsend Free Will Baptist Church located at 4519 S. DuPont Hwy. in Townsend, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Private burial services will be held on Thursday morning at Sharon Hills memorial Park in Dover. To honor his memory, the family suggests a monetary or blood donation to the Blood Bank of Delmarva. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
