SMYRNA - Jesus "Jesse" Rivera Delgado of Smyrna and Dover, died suddenly Thursday March 3, 2011, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 36. Jesse was born Nov. 25, 1974, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to Jesus Rivera of Puerto Rico and the late Lucia Delgado. He was born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, and came to the United States in 1986 at the age of 11 years old. He didn't speak a word of English, so he sat in front of the TV for about six months and learned just enough English to get by in school. Jesse was laid back and easy going, loved all kinds of music, dancing, trying new things, making new friends, joking around and just kicking back. He also enjoyed art and working with computers. He loved all kinds of food especially Puerto Rican food. Jesse had worked as a cook at the Betsy Ross Pizza Restaurant in Dover and was previously employed by Walmart in Dover. He is survived by his sister, Yahaira Rivera Delgado of Harrington; brother, Christian Rivera Delgado of Harrington; his aunt, Hilda Delgado Greener and her husband Randy of Smyrna; his aunt, Brunilda Delgado and husband Luis Mulero of Puerto Rico; cousins, James, Robert and David Remondi of Delaware and cousins, Mellissa Mulero, Eladio,Victor, Manuel Picon of Puerto Rico; and two nieces, Thayla and Ashley Richardson of New Castle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday March 10, 2011, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Interment will be at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Holy Cross Samaritans, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
