MILTON - Jerry Ann McLamb passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Jerry was born on April 28, 1947 and raised in Milton and later on her parent's farm in Ellendale. She was the daughter of the late W. Cecil Sr., and Helen Williams Carpenter.
Nursing was Jerry's calling and she graduated from the Beebe School of Nursing class of 1968. She practiced as a dedicated registered nurse for 50 years spending a large part of her career with Beebe Home Health Care. In 2012, Jerry retired from full time nursing and carried her nursing skills into the community with Beebe Health Care's Population Health. During her career, Jerry was a mentor to many and sat on many professional committees.
Jerry was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. A particular highlight for her each year was helping her granddaughters prepare crafts and jellies for the Delaware State Fair and enjoying the week with them attending the Fair. Jerry also enjoyed lunches with her cousins, Beebe co-workers and nursing school classmates.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald R. McLamb, Sr.; two children, Sandra G. M. Selzer and husband Chris of Avondale, Pa., and Donald R. McLamb, Jr., and wife Tracy of Bear; three granddaughters, Hannah Gracyn McLamb, Kelsie Anne McLamb and Abigail Helen Selzer; a brother, Superior Court Judge the Hon. William C. Carpenter, Jr., and wife Marilyn of Wilmington; a niece, Sarah Allison Johnson and husband Andrew; and a nephew, Richard L. Powers, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton with a time of visitation for family and friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested in Jerry's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Beebe Medical Foundation, designated to Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
