Jennie L. Farmer, 89
Jennie L. Farmer of Camden Wyoming passed away on August 17, 2022. Born on May 21, 1933 in Kansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Maras) and Thomas Jurick.
Jennie had been a teacher at Smyrna High School, retiring after 21 years of service. She had a passion for teaching and preparing her students for the future. While raising a family with her husband, Dale, Jennie went back to school and earned an Education degree from Delaware State College. She was an avid card player, enjoying both bridge and pinochle. She also loved to cook, was a voracious reader and was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Jennie was also a supporter of the Delaware Public Media and an advocate for preventing cruelty to animals.
Perhaps the greatest source of joy for Jennie was to be in the company of family and friends. She was blessed to have many close friendships whose company provided countless laughs and joyful memories. Her friendships with her teaching and business peers long transcended their time of working together, catching-up frequently over regular lunches, parties and book clubs - friendships that stood firm through the years.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dale C. Farmer, Sr. She is survived by her three children: Dale Farmer, Jr. and his wife Sue, Larry Farmer and his wife Brydee, and Randall Farmer and his wife Linda; six grandchildren: Brian Farmer (Holly), Lauren Brannon (Jason), Jay Farmer (Erin), Danny Farmer, Brooks Farmer and Ryan Farmer; and four great grandchildren: Miles Farmer, Maxwell Farmer, Kinsley Brannon and Diem Brannon. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Marty, Tom and Valentine and by her sisters Frances and Rosemary.
A viewing will be held 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 followed by a Celebration of Life service at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming DE 1993. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934 or to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
