DOVER - Jennie (Lee) Harris of Dover died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, in her home at Heritage of Dover Assisted Living. She was 76.
Mrs. Harris was born in Kinston, N.C., daughter of the late David C. and Alice Jennette Lee.
She dedicated her life to children.
Mrs. Harris owned and operated Harris Kiddie Kollege, Dover, from 1962 to 1989.
She served for many years on the board of directors of the Delaware Association for Retarded Citizens, where her involvement dated back to the early days of the Special Olympics. She was also a state board member of the DARC.
Mrs. Harris was an active member of the Quota Club and the Dover Modern Maturity Center.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and especially enjoyed time spent with her family. She cherished moments spent with her late husband as they traveled.
Mrs. Harris enjoyed gardening in her quieter times.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony D. Harris III, in 2001; and a brother, David Lee.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Anthony D. IV and Robin Harris of Hillsborough, N.C.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Glenna and Kline Kemp, Margaret Anne and William Ingram and Toni Lee Harris, all of Dover; a brother and a sister-in-law, Van and Jean Lee of Kinston; a sister-in-law, Betty Lee of Washington, N.C., the widow of David Lee; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Association of Retarded Citizens.
