Jean E. Downing McClain, 74

LINCOLN - Jean E. Downing McClain, of Lincoln, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, in Milford. She was 74. Jean was born in Milford, the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Mildred (Wright) Downing. She was a salesperson at Leggetts in Milford. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Milford Historical Society. She enjoyed collecting antique jewelry and antiques. She was a certified scuba diver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Medford E. McClain in 1969; and a son, Carl B. McClain in June 2009. She is survived by her son, Danny M. McClain and his wife Annette of Frederica; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte McClain of Alabama; a brother, Richard Downing and his wife Frances of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three cousins, Elaine Hawpe of Camden, Joyce Lopez of Davidsonville, Md., and Frances Baker of Lewes.. Funeral Services will be noon Thursday, July 30, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
