James W. Scott

Georgetown - James W. Scott passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. James was born in Lewes, Del. on Feb. 10, 1944. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was the Assistant Supervisor for Delaware DOT in Laurel. He was a Life Member of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company, Life member of the V.F.W. #4961 in Seaford, and a member of the Laurel American Legion Post # 19. He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the beach and especially spending time with family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Shockley Parker; step-father, Samuel Parker; and father, Wesley W. Scott. He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Scott; son and daughter-in-law, Allen J. and Michelle M. Scott; brother and sister-in-law, Alton W. and Barbara Scott; two grandchildren, Brandon A. Scott and Leilani Hardy; Best friend, Eddie Wise, Sr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, Del., where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: The American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852 or Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163.
