Barlow, 74 GEORGETOWN - James S. "Jim" Barlow passed away peacefully at the Jefferson Hospital on Friday December 11, 2015. He was 74. Jim was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on August 22, 1941 to the late Richard and Eleanor Barlow Sr. He was a ten year veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War as a combat Navy Corpsman. He retired after 27 years from Delaware Technical and Community College as the instructor of Medical Laboratory Technology. He was also a member of the DE State Retired Teachers Association, Vietnam Veteran's Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US, Disabled American Veterans, as well as a Past Master of the Franklin Lodge in Georgetown. Mr. Barlow is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue H. Barlow; sons, Michael and Helen Ann Barlow, Matthew and Heather Barlow, Jim Barlow; brothers, Richard Barlow, Jr., and Henry Barlow; and grandsons, Raiden and Rider Barlow. Jim was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He was a tough and determined teacher and mentor. He was a patriot and a proud American. A funeral service will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947 where friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers donations in Jim's memory can be made to: Home of the Brave 6632 Sharps Rd., Milford, DE 19963.
