LEWES - James (Jim) McCeney, formerly of Rockville, Md., died Dec. 23, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center. He was 83. Jim served proudly in the Marine Corps during WWII, and was stationed in China where he was an MP. Jim owned a contracting business for the majority of his working life. In his later working years, he held a manufacturer's rep position and worked for an automobile dealership. He was a member of the American Legion and Sussex Pines Country Club. He loved playing golf with the MISGA group, the Sunday Couples, and the Monday, Wednesday, Friday men. Jim loved working in his woodshop, and could fix just about anything. He was preceded in death by his father, George McCeney; mother, Grace McCeney; brother, George; and a sister, Elinor. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara; son, Stephen; step-children, Barbara-Lynn, John, Diane, and Kathy. In addition, he is survived by grand-children, John Robert and his wife Rosie, Jennifer, Carla, Megean, Kimberly, Lisa, Jimmy, Katie, Jimmy, Johnny, David; and a great-grandson, Forrest; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth. A memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be held at Conley's United Methodist Church, 22150 Robinsonsville Rd., Lewes, on Dec. 27th, at 1 p.m. Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Sussex County Delaware, Memorial Fulfillment Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA, 15235. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
