GREENWOOD - James R. "J.R." Campbell of Greenwood went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in Maui, Hawaii, after a long and hard fought battle with his illness. J.R. was born Nov. 21, 1948, son of Walter and Hazel Campbell of Woodside, Pa. He was a long time member of Laws Mennonite Church. He loved the Lord. J.R. was a man of many talents & achievements. He loved music, playing a wide variety of instruments and singing bass for the Kingdom Echoes; he was an award-winning taxidermist, a small aircraft pilot, loved working with wood, and was always ready to go hunting and fishing. He loved to travel and enjoyed visiting with his many friends. He loved all of his family, but most of all he was a loving husband, dad, and grandpap. J.R. was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Ethel Campbell; his parents, Walter & Hazel Campbell; and 2 sisters, Virginia Moore and Lois Elaine Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Linda Campbell; his son, John Campbell; his daughter and son-in-law, Evanna and Brian Wilkie; his granddaughter, Brianna Wilkie; and his grandson, Briar Wilkie, all of Greenwood; his four siblings Shelby Jean Fryling of California, Donald Campbell and his wife, Carolyn of Virginia, Shelton Campbell and his wife, Anna of Florida, and Walter Campbell Jr. of Ohio. He is also survived by Linda's family - her mother, Helen Wilson; her daughter, and son-in-law, Shelly and Matthew Yaeger; her grandson, Camden Yaeger; and her son, Jeff Wright. A Celebration service was held on Sun. Feb. 2, followed by his burial at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Gideons International, PO Box 56, Harrington, DE 19952. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home in Greenwood.
