
MAGNOLIA - James Joseph Meadowcroft, Jr. "Jay" passed away April 20, 2018. Jay was born in New York on Jan. 17, 1960, the son of James, Sr. and Patricia Meadowcroft.
After graduating from Tottenville High School in Staten Island, N.Y., Jay enlisted in the United Sates Marine Corp, where he was recognized in boot camp with a meritorious promotion. After his service to our country, Jay worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after several years of dedicated service. Prior to his divorce, he lived in Erie, Pa. He moved to Delaware and attended Delaware Technical and Community College, studying to be a counselor. Before his passing, he owned and operated his own lawn care service.
Jay was an avid reader and enjoyed history and politics. He also enjoyed going to the gym and working out. He was dedicated to his family in many ways. After his father fell ill, he took on the role of family patriarch. He was especially devoted to his nieces, nephews and grand nephews. Jay was always taking time out for them and helping them in any way he could. He was also Godfather for two nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna; brother, Michael; and nephew and Godson, Patrick James McManus.
Jay is survived by his parents, James, Sr. and Patricia; his siblings, Elizabeth, Terence (Lisa), and Gerard Meadowcroft and Kelly Adams (Mike); former wife, Diana Percivalli; Aunt Regina Holden; nephews, Todd, Alex and Jack Meadowcroft and Mikey Adams; nieces, Mary, Devon, Brooke, Paige and Olivia Meadowcroft, Tori Adams and Julie Irizary; grand nephews, Michael, Jr. and Madden Brown and Joseph and Carter Meadowcroft. He will also be missed by his aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be 12 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
