James E. MacNamara, 77
HARRINGTON, Del. - James E. MacNamara passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at home. James was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. the son of the late James MacNamara, Catherine MacNamara and step-mother Marion MacNamara.
James served in the U.S. Navy for 7 years as a boatswain's mate. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 30 years before retiring in 2002. He loved sports, pitching horseshoes, loved to read and enjoyed lifting weights. He also had a huge pen knife collection. Most important was that James enjoyed life to it fullest and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann (Phillips) MacNamara; a son, James G. MacNamara (Heidy); his grandchildren, Rebecca Ann MacNamara and Patricia Ann MacNamara; two brothers, Keith MacNamara and Craig MacNamara; a sister, Elaine Petrucci; as well as many loving brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 109 Dixon Street, Harrington. Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to either Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 109 Dixon Street, Harrington, DE 19952.
