James Denward Brown, 58

DOVER - James Denward Brown, was called home Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover, after a short illness. He was 58. Mr. Brown was born July 28, 1951, son of the late James and Evelyn Brown. He was a graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1970. James was the backbone of the Brown family. He tirelessly took care of each and every member of the family and was always willing to help anyone in need. James was retired from the Capital School District and the United States Army Reserve unit based in Dover. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and liked to collect antiques and collectibles. He is survived by his loving companion, Barbara Simmons of Smyrna; six sisters, Mary Evelyn Brown, Dorothy Bull, Willa M. Brown, Quintella D. Brown, and Helen W. Brown, all of Dover, and Edwina P. Arnell and Roger of Haskell, N.J.; one brother, Harry Brown; a special Angel sent to him during his time of need, his cousin, William 'Butch' Jason; two aunts, Thelma Brown and Pearl Brown; one special cousin, Evelyn Peters; his extended family of Barbara Simmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and extended family and friends. Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Funeral services will follow directly after the viewing at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hill, Dover.
