James C. Greenly "Jim" went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. Jim was born on Dec. 16, 1933 to James and Beatrice Greenly, of Dover. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin from 1952 to 1956. He enjoyed a long career as a sales associate for Burris Foods for 29 years and retired from Lankford Sysco after 17 years. Jim was also involved in many organizations with the community which included the Masons, Odd Fellows, American Legion, and was a long-standing member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Jim was well-known by many for his kindness and ability to engage people in friendly conversation. He loved his family and enjoyed his many friendships. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Beth; and siblings, Jack, Bill, Shortie, Caroline, Lillian, Virginia; and two infant brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Greenly; daughter, Diane and husband, Dan Twisselmann; three grandchildren, Jamie Twisselmann, Jenna and husband, Nick Giordano, and Cory Twisselmann; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Cotonio; a sister, Mary Wisseman; brothers-in-law, James Cannon and wife, Marilyn, Harvey Cannon and wife, Verna Jean; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Howell and, husband Bruce, Geneva Greenly, and Edith Greenly; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the services immediately following.
