Irene 'Gail' Shappee, 49 HARRINGTON - Irene "Gail" Shappee, of Harrington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010. She was 49. Gail was born on March 28, 1960, to the late Franklin G. and Arlene L. Abel. Mrs. Shappee was a charter and school bus driver throughout her life and also tended bar locally. She was a member of the American Poolplayers Association, and the Camden Moose Lodge. She was known for always being the life of the party. She loved music, singing, and dancing. She was a fun person and liked to compete in various games ranging from cards to football pools. She was a daughter, mother, wife, sister, aunt and a friend to many who will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Renee Edge and her husband Eric Edge of Milford, and Taylor Shappee of Felton; a life long friend, Janet Yerkie and her husband Eddie Yerkie of Magnolia; five sisters, Loretta-Kashagen Durham of Newark, Elenore Fontana of Middletown, Doris Downs of New Castle, Toni Dale of New Castle, and Helen Havens of Delaware City; two brothers, William Abel of Baltimore, Md., and Franklin Abel of Windham, Maine; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 22, at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St., Greenwood. Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood, followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony at the Greenwood Fire Hall where friends and family are invited and encouraged to bring photos or anything to help share memories of our beloved Gail.
