GREENSBORO, Md. - Herbert W. "Mutt" Ruf died Monday, May 20, 2013, at his home. Born in Hynson, Md. on Feb. 3, 1923, Mr. Ruf was the son of the late John George Ruf and Nora Nichols Ruf. Mr. Ruf farmed all of his life, moving to his farm near Greensboro in 1954. His wife, Alma O. Ruf, died in August of 2003. Mr. Ruf was a member of the Denton, Md. St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Burrsville Ruritan Club of which he had been President twice and had 42 years perfect attendance. He was also a 58 year active member of the Caroline County Farm Bureau and had been the Chairman of the Farmer's Home Administration Board in Denton (FHA) for many years. He had been awarded the Farm Bureau Dairy Herd Improvement Award an was recognized for his leadership and service in the farming community. Mr. Ruf was also well known for his sparkling eyes, contagious smile, and delicious brownies. Mr. Ruf is survived by one daughter, Charlotte A. Fisher and her husband Roger of Atco, N.J.; a brother, Charlie Ruf of Federalsburg, Md.; three grandchildren, Steve W. Fisher and his wife Amanda of Washington, D.C., Deidre Eckman of Burlington, N.J., and Roger K. Fisher of Marlton, N.J.; three great-grandchildren, Camille, Cory, and Riley. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Warner Ruf, William Ruf, Carlton Ruf, and Robert Ruff; and three sisters, Betty Nagel, Nora Ruf and Elizabeth Wright. A viewing will be held today, May 22, 2013 for friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 S. Fifth Ave. in Denton. There will be a private interment at the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2381 Neal's School Road, Seaford, DE 19973 on Friday, May 24, 2013.
